Exercise

If you enjoy walking then this group is perfect for you. We walk every week, rain or shine, all year round. During the dark evenings we stick to the street lights and walk for 1 hour, approximately 3 miles, 5km. We walk at a steady pace, not too fast but not too slow.

In the warmer, lighter evenings we will occasionally walk further and into the countryside.

Safety

If you want to walk, but don’t want to walk on your own, then safety in numbers is what our walking group can offer.

The Kenilworth Walking Women is a large walking group so there will always be plenty of walking company every week.

Socialising

If you are new to Kenilworth or just looking to meet new people, joining our walking group is a great way of meeting other local ladies.

As well as walking, a group of us always head to the Abbey Fields pub after our walk. This is a great way of making new friends or just being sociable, if you’ve had a busy week or been indoors a lot.

Wellbeing

If your are feeling lonely, stuck inside too much, recovering from an illness or many other reasons, joining a walking group is a wonderful way to boost your wellbeing.

Physical activity enhances our sense of wellbeing – it increases our mental alertness, energy and positive mood. Walking can even help reduce stress and anxiety.

Walking in a group gives you the added feeling of safety, and by joining the Kenilworth Walking Women, there are always plenty of us to talk to.

Spring and summer walks

In the warmer weather and long summer nights, we will be able to do the occasional longer walk on a Tuesday evening, and plan some extra longer walks at weekends when the weather is fine and the ground isn’t boggy!

Walks around Kenilworth Castle, the Millennium Walk, Kenilworth Common, the Greenway plus many more will all be a possibility.

As the group members get to know each other it is nice to take the occasional social trip out together. We’ve been to see Shelia’s Island at the Talisman Theatre and we’re currently planning our group Summer Picnic in Abbey Fields in July.

Special guests

In the summer we’re planning to invite along some guests to add some interest to our walks. If you are a local photographer, forager, bird watcher or bat expert and would like to accompany our walking group to give us a talk about your specialist subject, while we walk, please get in touch! We’d love to hear from you.
